The last crazy compo to announce before the party is of course stylishly the one that promises the fiercest battle - the famous 8-bit quiz! As all of our crazy compos, it appears irregularly - but this one always has a great and positive response. Do you know who or what is Denaris? Are you sure that Commander Jameson is not a drink? Then you can fight for the title! Which one? Read on...
Are you all brains? Get regularly bored by the difficulty of the quizes at Forever? Then we've got the right crazy compo for you - Fort Katakis! This game will make you shift into higher mental gear and if you win, you can easily crack New York Times crosswords (if they concern 8-bit gaming, that is). Need more info? Click it! >>
Oukey doukey, now when we know that there will be a Forever, preparations can go on rolling in high gear. Music quizes are always top notch at the party. Almost at the touch of your fingertips is now the hardest and easiest music quiz at Forever ever. Perplexed? Heres a link that will explain everything. read full article >
Oukey doukey, now when we know that there will be a Forever, preparations can go on rolling in high gear. Music quizes are always top notch at the party. Do you have your favourite funny scene from an 8-bit game? Or even better ? do you think there?s one which really missed out on a great opportunity for laughing out loud? Are you sure you could improve it? Or remember / can imagine some great fun around our 8-bit pets? Then this crazy compo is right for you. Play it live at Forever 10 in the 8-bit Theater compo!
So you thought we would start introducing the Forever compos with a fat article on the main compos, summing up the rules and deadlines and giving you information on the compo machines? Ha, got you! The first compo to introduce is a crazy writing compo, and if that?s not enough, we nail it (or you) with that you?ll have to write in rhymes! Prepare some ink and click on the link!
Starting from Forever 2010 ? The 8-bit Odyssey, the party will have its signature award called Eternity. Get conceptual, get creative! Get more info in the Forever introduces Eternity article
We have been organizing Forever parties for 10 years.
Counting from March 2000, there has been a continuous line of unprecedented stability in the history of the 8-bit scene. Every single year, every 3rd weekend in March we brought you an unforgettable encounter of the 3 major 8-bit scenes. Atari, Speccy and C64 scene. And the next year, commemorating the most inspiring author in both the history of the science fiction and computers, Arthur C. Clarke (December 16, 1917 - March 19, 2008), we are bringing you the 11th one: Forever 2010 | The 8-bit Odyssey.
To make sure this will be another great Forever, we are
launching a Forever Party News site, which will keep you up to date with our plans and should inspire you to follow next year's hardcore "science fiction and space exploration" (and 8-bit longevity) theme.
Deadline for e-mail submissions: Friday MAR 18 2011 12:00 (can give you more time, just contact me sooner)

Last week Cadaver made a "mistake" of noting me (CreaMD) over ICQ about the new gadget that he has just received. It was the (already famous) 1541 Ultimate Plus. I?m quite astonished about this new piece of hardware because just month or two ago I?ve discussed 1541 emulation (irq loaders, etc.) with hardware gurus and I?ve been assured that it is almost impossible to hardware emulate 1541 to this extent. I didn?t hesitate and asked Cadaver if he coulnd?t write a review while testing the new toy. He agreed. Yesterday I?ve received an E-mail containing a text of review and few photos taken with a cellphone camera. Read the 1541 Ultimate Plus test by Cadaver here

March 16.-18. 2007 - Forever Reneg8 - 8-bit multiplattform party. Organised by C64 (CreaMD, Wotnau and Jak-T-Rip), Speccy and Atari sceners is taking place at the same place as last year (Somer/Trencin/Slovakia), in the middle of the March for 8th round-jubilee time.
As usual, send your gfx, msx, demo and 1k intro and wild entries to CreaMD. If you don?t receive my reply, try again.
Have a great creative time. And thanx for support.
It's one month to the 7th edition of the best multiplattform 8-bit around globe and therefore it's probably the best time to bring you the party report of the last one (Forever 6 party report). As usual it's written by Wotnau/DMagic few weeks after the party, but (as usual) released late by being ever so late CreaMD/DMagic. So why was the 6th installation of FOREVER, held in middle of the March in Trencin/Slovakia, so special?
Read the F6 report here. | Official Forever party page. | Forever 7 visitors list/registration.
UPDATE: Party place has changed to EARTH/EUROPE/SLOVAKIA/TRENCIN/CLUB SOMER (ZK MERINA). If you remember where Pohoda Music festivals (biggest in Slovakia) were held, that is one of the halls there. The map with directions is here. Map (interactive) is here: http://tinyurl.com/jdzwm More info coming soonish. (CreaMD)
As always, you can send your compo entries here: creamd@c64.sk
So it's finally here. 5th C64.sk's SID compo (8.october-13.november 2005) results. Maybe you are interested to learn who is that mysterious composer behind "Walley of Dreams?", and maybe you would like to know answers on your questions about "Poetry of Lonely Mind". But first, hereby I would like to thank everybody for great support and especially to sites promoting this compo VORC, Emu64.pl. Alih for creating of OGG versions of the tunes. People helping with hosting hosting of the OGG files Luca, Raf and Steppe. People who produced the great software used for making of the C64 executables. PSID64 developed by Roland Hermans. EXOMIZER (used for packing) developed by Magnus Lind. And of course also to the admin Milan Leszkow of Linux Tech Department at my hosting for saving my fragile butt reputation. Okay and now you can click here to get the annual c64.sk SID Compo No.5 results and comments .

your favourites wisely.
For those who missed this years compo. Don't worry, I plan to
organise it until I get completely bored of all this crap, which is not going
to happen very soon, because this year mix of tunes was extremely enjoyable
starting with fabulous Rastertime Eater going through Hrmpfz'ish tune
not composed by Hrmpfz and ending with the tune by that dude who asked me to
shift the deadline. I'm glad that I did this because some more neat tunes appeared
in the final list of 27 submissions. Now the counting phase begins. Results will be released on late sunday evening.
All your votes are belong to us now! Thanks everybody for support.

The release of Turrican 3 on the C64 gained a lot of attention. Some people love it, while others don't like it. But how good is it actually? For sure it's a game worth checking out.
AEG's T3 is a game of great scale and depth and probably the game event of the year. C64.sk doesn't want to bring you a review based just on a few levels' experience, so check the progress of our main reviewer Wotnau burning the midnight oil at the game in this T3 diary, parallelly with Vip, adding his experience in the discussion section. The review is now available, enjoy!
It's done! Game completed, diaries are finished, the review is published. Wotnau dedicates his victory over Morgul II to Womana/Studio Style and ThunderBlade/Protovision (recently married).

Another edition of Floppy has passed, so I guess it's time for another Dark Court as well. By now you should know the routine: I tell you what I think about a bunch of demos, and then you collectively attack me on my point of view. After all, why change a winning formula? Here are the reviews of the top 5. In case you have missed the releases, download them from here.
Great parties deserve the corresponding publicity. Floppy 2004 ? ?The Smell Of Data? - is definitely one of them. Maybe it is not the most crowded party of the year, but definitely on of the most valuable for the creative C64 scene. The sceners from Sweden and surrounding countries have again proven which region is currently leading the C64 demo scene. Enjoy the report and a small photogallery at the bottom of the article.

Approximately
at the same time as Sadism 3, Rockin'
Factor, the first C=64 collection of Factor 6 - the ZX'n'C=64 amphibian
- got released. The review of Sadism 3 said that a detailed look at Rockin'
Factor would follow. Publishing of the first got delayed on the webmaster's
side, but the latter was still worth doing because it's quality that matters
- and there's a reasonable share of it in Rockin' Factor, as you're going to
learn from Professor Ugha Sid's review. Download the collection here.
Those who visited Forever Quattro (held in March 2003) had some souvenirs to take home when leaving the party. The best competitors got their trophies, others could take at least nice memories - and Sadism 3, the music collection of Sad/Padua released right at the party. Like most puzzle games, Super Seven doesn't really have a story line; in this case the simple premise is to match two dice of the same denomination as one falls from the top of the screen and the other cycles past at the bottom. Do you lead a busy life? Probably, and I do as well. Nevertheless, there's one item which has been one and the same in my calendar for four years until now. About the 3rd weekend in March it always says: FOREVER! It stands for the Forever 8-bit party, probably the biggest 8-bit multiplatform party of today, which is regularly hosted by the town of Trencin in Slovakia. Simply put, this is a party report from Forever Quattro (the official name of the 4th Forever) which took place March 14 - 16, 2003.

There were a lot of happenings at PROTOVISION lately. Changes in the memberstatus, news about their productions (e.g. their latest game TEAM PATROL being shipped now) and ofcourse information about the VISION PARTY CONFERENCE, which will take place near Hamburg, Germany in June this year.
The 4th year of Forever is in front of us. The same period of the year, the same country, the same city, the same party place as last year. This weekend you will experience another year of the most *insert your favourite intensifiers here* multiplatform Atari, C64 and ZX Spectrum 8 bit party ever. For more info read the article. For the visitors list check here. Original party site is here: www.forever.sk You can check almost complete results here:Forever 2003 - results!!! Releases: Download!
When it comes to demos the Floppy parties really have a name to uphold. Two years ago it was "Feedback" by Triad beating "A quoi ca sert?" by Wrath Design, and last year "Pretending To See The Light" by Fairlight won the competition. This year it was Booze Design's "Industrial Breakdown" gathering the most votes. Here are the reviews of the top 5. In case you have missed the releases, download them from here.

It is called ? State of the Art ?. It will be held on December 13-14-15 2002 in Tourcoing (near Lille, France) in a unique place : Le Fresnoy (www.le-fresnoy.tm.fr), a national Studio of Contemporary Arts and a wonderful building which used to be a Wrestling arena ! A mythical place for an oldschool coding-party. We will go back in time to the early days of Atari-Amiga demo in order not to forget where this passion comes from and where it goes.

XZENTRIX is a Computerparty for people who believe in a life beyond
office-software.
This is not a normal demoparty where a few users try to top the others
by pure processor-power. It is a party for people who love their
computer more than their wife (and kids, and dogs :-) ).
Following you?ll find a list of the main systems we expect at the
XzentriX this year.
Ofcourse you can take other systems with you, too.
But please, leave your PC at home...

Finally, CreaMD is back with another of his neverending attempts to completely blame himself internationally. Except of his well known X-2001 party incident this exclusive party report brings you the most comprehensive (=totally boring) info on the event written by this (wannabe) eccentric dude himself. Good news is that it's at least accompained by one or two interesting photos. Enjoy.

CMD was one of the largest companies ever producing hardware for the C64. They were forced to leave some time ago to secure the future of the company. But what about the people behind this name? For them, the dream of the C64 being your main, real life job was a reality. This is over now and one of them, Doug Cotton, therefore has decided to leave the company, which now only offers PC and Macintosh related services.

much the same - and those who tried the first one (or at least read the
review) know that it's a plus.

Royal Arte - first seen on Mekka-Symposium 2001 and taking the C64 demo competition by storm. Then, released a while later with a "slightly" unreliable loader and not giving a chance to fully admire it's great power. Now we are proud to finally bring you the final FINAL VERSION, presented & released at X-2001. Moreover, we bring you a review by The Dark Judge / Focus.
"‘Session’ is a strange puzzle game, written by More Gore Software. The game consist of loads of levels, a level editor and also a good choice of music." Says Richard Bayliss in the beginning of his review. How good the game is, what he thinks about the playability, graphics, sounds? Do you want to learn more about this game? Read on.
Released
on 2nd OCTOBER 2001, GOAT TRACKER
came from version 0.9 to current v1.2. To give it's developer feedback and support
this interesting piece of software C64.SK organised a competiton lasting since
the 8th to 22th october 2001. 11 tunes were submitted, 9 competed, 41 votes collected.
And here comes the results: GOAT RESULTS .D64?
ZIPPED .SID & .SNG PACK
Well,
another nice month. This time 34 Alpha-News full of interesting news about The Scene activity. You all participated on another huge release list full of interesting
demos, games, tools, and other yummy things. What was the most interesting news
of the month? Probably the return of Cadaver (Lasse ??rni) to activity, and
controversial The Dark Court which provoked more reactions than anyone of us
expected.

Tempest has discovered a new musician! And as you can read in the revies, it's a valuable discovery. This collection not only brings some decent graphic by JailBird, smooth coding by Ninja/The Dreams/Tempest, but as far as I know, it's the first release using Dreamload v2.1 which is the most valuable IRQ loader available. Grab the collie from here!

Nobody expected that this Polish party would have a weak C64 support. After the
cancellation of this year's North Party one could expect this one to be a
nice backup, but it seems, Polish demomakers are saving, or just exhausted their infamous creative resources.

It's no secret that the quantity of demos has decreased, but what about the quality? To answer this question, The Dark Judge has decided to check out today's demos and rate all of them from 10 (very bad) to 99 (near-perfect). What do today's demos look like? Are they worth watching? You will learn in the first of this series of articles written by The Dark Judge of Focus.
