State of the Art
It is called ? State of the Art ?. It will be held on December
13–14–15 2002 in Tourcoing (near Lille, France) in a unique place : Le
Fresnoy (www.le-fresnoy.tm.fr), a national Studio of Contemporary
Arts and a wonderful building which used to be a Wrestling arena ! A mythical
place for an oldschool coding-party. We will go back in time to the early days
of Atari-Amiga demo in order not to forget where this passion comes from and
where it goes.
- State of the Art will be hosted by the Pixel Festival, a festival dedicated
to the ?Digital Culture? and organized by L?Arc Num?rique, a group of digital
companies from Lille and around, co-organised by Le Fresnoy and L?A?ronef. Many
professionals from the video games, SFX or sound industries will attend the
event and present their techniques along a series of conferences (English
translation provided). Special guests of renown in their field of expertise,
code, gfx, music are expected. Of course State of the Art will provide the usual
competitions with quality prizes. We are aiming at getting demo-makers and
professionals to meet each other in the oldshool spirit. 250 people are
expected to attend this digital week-end.
2) Pixel Festival will also host the Vector Lounge (www.vectorlounge.com), an international meeting of web-designers. This event which has taken place in Amsterdam, Paris, Singapore will gather 40 graphic designers of world repute. Vector Lounge and State of the Art will meet at L?a?ronef for a wild party.
3) A series of conferences (English translation provided) from some of the big shots of the Digital Culture (developers, musicians or graphic designers) and scientists, academics and officials will be held during the festival.
