With the "Latest downloads" introduced, is there anyone who still wants the monthly summaries ("... at c64.sk") or can they be cancelled without any particular loss of value?

[12] : 15. Feb 2002 13:16
I think they have SOME value, but I don't know what other thinks.
CreaMD

[13] : 15. Feb 2002 14:37
Of course, it'd be great to have a summary, if it's not too much work. A download link list doesn't tell much, and it doesn't pump up the spirit :-) like a written summary does, although it is good that it exists too.

SealSex has released a pre-beta version of The Heavy Metal deluxe and accompained it with a intro scrolltext accusing Richarch B. of releasing bad versions of good games under Da Laxatives. I wonder which one in particular they meant. If they mean BOFH, I can just say... watch and learn ;-). It seems those people take things more serious that then try pretend in their fake label.

[28] : 19. Feb 2002 09:55
Hollowman, you are right, the picture is obviusly made by Mermaid. Tadpole sign in the middle which is suggesting his authorship. Obviously someone not only doesn`t pay the credit where credit is due but also lacks good manners. Word lamer perfectly in this case.

As far as FED`s opinion is concerned, I don`t see anything bad on that. The magazine is heavily outdated. Some articles are one year old and magazine which is evidently trying to replace Driven is showing that it`s staff might be unable to walk the same path. In a way it really resembles a fake-mag. Remember, it has 1 year old chapters!

However, there is a very valuable interview with well-known Driven magazine editor - Coolhand which is revealing the story behind the sudden end of Driven magazine before releasing it`s 30th issue. It`s always a great reading when Coolhand puts his thoughts into the words, so don`t miss it. Also, check the following page to learn more about the Driven magazine, if you have missed it: http://starbase.globalpc.net/driven/.

They are there to get me but wont win just wait and see.

[30] : 19. Feb 2002 21:52
Rich, why waste your time? They would be nothing, if they didn`t have someone like you and other game makers who are feeding their greed for releases. Even when it`s not a new Creatures it`s far more than they are doing for C64 today! I wouldn`t care about them and their stupid comments. "The group - SEALSEX - has been named and shamed due to the fact that they have upset the author of the game project -Heavy Metal Deluxe- (Richard Bayliss) with their crack of the game preview. They called it a full game and added -very nasty- comments on to their intro screen. Therefore causing Richard to be really stressed and upset. Despite all this bullying, which Richard had to suffer, he has decided that the game will go ahead. It is still in beta-test at the moment, but it should be ready in a few weeks time. The full game still needs some work to be done and will be released once everything is perfect. Also Richard has a little surprise in store for the scene, sometime this week. Not telling you what it is, but you should find it in ftp sites before the weekend. richard bayliss " talking about yourself in third person is always a good way to show that you are a humble and sensitive person:) anyway this scene was built on people pissing eachother off, just write a nasty scrolltext about seal sex and you will probably feel much better.

Richard, you are barking up to a wrong tree in case of Fed. I’ve chatted with him meanwhile and he claims that his intentions are honest. According to my observation he thinks you are a lamer wasting time in the scene on bad-quality projects instead of learning to be the true artist but he can’t say it out loud as he wan’t to be politically correct in these days, so he instead makes those "witty" comments. I consider it as a serious problem of communication in the scene ;-)).

Hang on, this looks VERY suspicious. It looks as if someone is trying to be CreaMD this time. This is very suspicious indeed - considering that the same person is fooling around. Look at the times of the last three posts.

Anyway, let’s forget about all this rubbish and let the scene continue. I have ’HMD’ to work on.

Richard of TND

[49] : 20. Feb 2002 22:40
Richard, I have two suggestions. I hope you are not too offended by them.. 1) Please stop these "in anger"-written bashings and impersonations. They do nothing good to anyone. 2) To advance to next level in your craft, force yourself to learn something you can’t currently do. For example, when you understand blockmap-scrolling in all directions and game-characters moving inside this "map" (off-screen action), instead of just moving in screen coordinates, you know you’re onto something big :-)

[50] : 20. Feb 2002 22:40
Sorry I can’t prove that very well, but believe me it was me - CreaMD. Sorry if my words sounded harsh Rich but they were meant seriously. Some people simply think that everyone must produce high standard stuff and if he doesn’t they diminish his efforts. Anyway, is there a big difference in acceptation of quality release and some budget-like release? BOFH is a great game, but nobody speaks about it, and crackers didn’t crack it (properly). Instead they waste time over bashing you into the dust with stupid SealSex releases. Simply put: some people focus on the wrong targets.
CreaMD

[51] : 20. Feb 2002 22:47
And yeah, Lasse is right. Between the lines, and sometimes using the most improper ways of decently expressing their opinion, your critics want to push you to became better coder and produce better games. It’s on you Richard if you will fight against critics on discussion forums, or through your Laxatives projects, or sit over your real projects and make them better and better.

This reminds me of 2 sceners I know of who had difference in my harsh but honest opinion on some things. Some people cannot handle the truth in any form or people with different opinions. Richard know he has damaged himself considerably with Da Laxatives? Who will take the pom serious? How do you know when poms are on a jet? When it lands and engines stop, you still hear the whining.

[71] : 21. Feb 2002 12:28
this is pretty fucked up. scene world #2 was released containing outdated news chapters which only cover 5% of the scene, and certainly not the most interesting bits of it. when fed(mfl) did the only decent thing and slagged on it he became a lame shithead without any friends...ohwell, mindflow may not have released that much stuff but those who have heard his unreleased (and his released)material know that he kicks ass. and as for the friends bit, well...i think he got his fair share of those:) this reaction may seem a bit to sane, but i had to write something which make sense before we continue with the braindead bashing ;)

[78] : 21. Feb 2002 16:57
Reading this discussion, I see the Commodore 64 scene of the 21st century. Loads of flaming, boasting, chitting and chatting, pseudo-philosophy and many other activities that have something to do with everything but the real C=64. If we all spent at least half the time we do this on the real machine, there’d be amazing games and demos. So for me Richard is the winner because while fighting his battle he found the time to do the war demo. Anyway, I think of Richard as a perfect musicican (I think I’m his most devoted fan) but I don’t really respect his games. Rich, if you collected the effort you put into three or four games to make a bigger one instead, I think you’d receive a big feedback. On the other hand, if you’re not interested in it or lack the motivation and the steam for bigger projects, don’t give a damn about our posts and go on your way.

[79] : 21. Feb 2002 17:40
bla bla. check who has posted here, then check how much they have done on c64 lately. and finally ask yourself if your little theory that flaming, boasting and chatting takes so much time that we cant do anything on the real machine.

I have closed down the stupid ’Da Laxatives’ and will break the news to the rest of the DLX crew :)

Take a look what I’ve done: http://angelfire.com/retro/dalaxatives

"Anything I seem to see, what other people just take as a joke - I take seriously. Take for example, some of these messages posted by NiCoTiNe, and also their web site. I took thinks too seriously, but they were meant to be harmless jokes. "No, I think you are perfectly normal. None of us here likes to be mocked up. But of course it’s good to read between the lines and understand your opponents.

Groepaz: you are right. This discusions is going too far behind the initial prolbem ;-), but it’s probably because there are some things between the lines which we are discussing.

Pi, do you really think it wouldn’t make us all look even more ridiculous? ;-)

todays scene sux, nothing but lameness.... must have been said! 21. Feb 2002 18:16 enchi / elakhet You don’t know much about the todays scene, do you?

Wotnau, we’ve promised to solve our probs internally, so I’ll kick your butt later ;-))).

CreaMD? Do I submit the forever 2002 music compo tune to you? That’s when I’ve finished composing it.
Richard

richard, dont worry, most of us are used to reading and taking crap. i dont think anyone will care much as long as you dont poison their children or something like that ;)

Dear Elakhet, - "the pride of the scene and still number one!". Whoever you are in reality, please keep in mind that there is enough of pseudofunny lamer groups producing junk like your ftp://ftp.padua.org/pub/c64/incoming/tmp/beauty_elakhet_pal.zip. In your scrolltext you made some promises, but I have serious doubt, you will ever have GOODWILL to waste your valuable time to make anything better than this. If you were so serious in your statements, you would never dare to release this unoriginal and unvaluable demo.
CreaMD

[100] : 22. Feb 2002 12:05
BWAHAHAHAHAHA... whatever "elakhet" is or claims to be - its LAAAAME bwhahaha :o) good idea to call other ppls productions lame and do that in a demo that would have been lame even in the 80s :=DDD more of that junk please, a good laugh is never wrong ;D

[101] : 22. Feb 2002 20:19
After a little wander through Elakhet’s demo (check $4800): "This program was made with Demo Maker v2.0 !!! Demo Maker v2.0 was written by The Scientists".... =-)

[102] : 22. Feb 2002 22:17
Good one T.M.R! I wonder if those dumbasses by the name of Elakhet can say LAAAAAAME.

[103] : 22. Feb 2002 22:49
Hahahahaha! well, this is either lame or extremly cool 8)

[104] : 23. Feb 2002 18:00
Ha, ha. Nice one TMR. I would agree. Who needs to use a demo maker, when you can simply code one. Well I can, but I do have a load of demo makers in my disk drawer, but hardly used them :)

Been doing more on my HMD game. Progressing well ;)

[105] : 25. Feb 2002 13:45
hehehe indeed PI, using demomaker v2 is indeed that kind of lameness that is almost cool :o)

[106] : 25. Feb 2002 15:51
Even the Crossbow (e.t.) was using "Crest Demomaker" for most of his productions... ;-))
CreaMD

[107] : 25. Feb 2002 20:25
I used to use ’Demo Demon’ in the past, but I code my own demos for now on :)
Richard/TND

[108] : 25. Feb 2002 22:03
Btw. you can find that demomaker in Crestology demo package.
CreaMD

[109] : 25. Feb 2002 22:11

Let’s not use this reactions section on our personal correspondence. Richard I’ve replied to your Saturday sending as soon as I got it, so if you want to urge me with feedback, the best way is to send the E-mail.

[Looks at Stryker] A woman walks into a bar and asks the barman for a double entendre, so he gives her one.

How about date for latest downloads in an own line? This wouldn’t make the list much longer but could make possible a bit bigger font.

CreaMD: How about posting the Forever advert? The rules that are at forever.studiostyle.sk are not correct, at least if we really intend to allow two intros and two pictures per artist. What’s up?
