"In the current issue of the magazine C’t you can read a report of the Willow Party 2004. It’s the first time that a German computer magazine writes about 8-bit Commodore parties." OMG how newschool do you have to be to not know that there were tons of reports about C64 parties in almost every german computer magazine in existance? *yawn*

I can only recommend ASM (Aktueller Software Markt) for those who still remember it. ASM did feature a lot of different parties all over the years. RIP

For comparison, I can’t remember any Swedish computer magazines (not even the C64 specific) ever writing about a copy party (as they were called in the days). Maybe because some of the supposed activities going on would be illegal business, maybe magazines were not allowed to attend/report or maybe there were none really big parties here? There were reports from trade shows of course, but that is a completely different end of the stick.
Anders Carlsson

[14] : 05. Oct 2004 09:07
anders, then i guess you didnt read datormagazin or svenska hemdatornytt. there were plenty of reports from copy/demoparties in both

[14]: Hmm, really? I must admit most of my DMZ issues are from the years 1992-95, but if nothing else, they should’ve had some Am*ga party reports if those existed. I’ll have to read through them some time, but if there had been *tons* of reports (a little depending on whether there were *tons* of parties to report from), I should’ve remembered reading some of them? :-)

[20] : 06. Oct 2004 00:53
@18: I think I’ve seen it once, was it from 1989/1990? Because I remember being at an amiga party where they showed a report starring Count something? (not zero)
Tdj

[21] : 06. Oct 2004 07:49
anders, i dont have my dmz isssues here but i’ll take off the top of my head what has been written about parties. in 1987 there was some notes about copyparties being held and the poor gamesindustry. norwegian dmz made an interesting report from a norwegian copyparty in 1988, where they called the cops to get some good photos and a nice story. There were lots of readers letters asking dmz to interview cracking groups and that year they interviewed the cracker/the gang. During 1989 there was a report from horizon&equinoxe and some other party i cant remember the name of. the column called demodaxx appeared in 1990 where first daniel wilby and then bacchus wrote about demos, crackinggroups and parties.Bacchus also wrote a report from horizon easterparty 1990. i think bacchus wrote a bit about parties in the demoworld pages in 91-92 also. in 92 there were reports from light&phenomena party and Hurricane & Brutal party(atleast i think it was that party)in 94 there were reports from tp93, tg94 and asm94. I dont have that many issues of shn, but i cant get that hideous photo of goblin and his girlfriend at some party out of my head, and there were quite a few partyreports in the issues i have. Ok, there were a bit more regular demo and party material in amiga info and tekkno, but big parties did exist in sweden(check how many attenders l&p92 and tcc93 had), and the swedish magazines did write about them.

Damn .. you got me curious about that Goblin photo ..
Tdj

[23] : 06. Oct 2004 15:57
Ok, I take your word. Somehow, a magazine calling the cops to get a good story and pictures doesn’t sound like they’re doing a party report, or how to say it...

Indeed "Katakis 2 on C64?" was in the news, at that time it still was to be decided whether it will be developped or not. As it seems it now has been decided to develop it, so the questionmark has been removed :)

;-) I’m okay with czech content.. we can at least influence ppl from CZ who don’t speak english. At least that’s PCH’s intention ;-) I hope it will also work on some lost slovak people, although I don’t think there are any left ;-)

Woo, C64DTV unleashed in comp.sys.cbm etc. Now it is official this is yet another Jeri production, like many of us probably already had figured out. Will someone post Robert Bernado’s news article here even?
Anders Carlsson

[68] : 29. Oct 2004 16:52
[67] Probably best to summarise it rather than publish the whole article. 350,000 being built in China, NTSC units only at the moment. Shopping channel QVC have exclusive rights until 1st January 2005. November 26th (Thanksgiving in the USA) is launch date Joystick has two fire buttons plus four function buttons (I’m guessing one’s a reset!). Games have been reprogrammed to use function buttons, so worries about weapon selection in Cybernoid appear to be over. 3 channel SID, no link for a second stick.
Merman

[69] : 29. Oct 2004 17:18
nice
CreaMD

[70] : 30. Oct 2004 09:58
if you are gonna summarise, atleast include the interesting part ;) "The DTV is hard-coded to run at 1 mhz.. There is 128K RAM and 2 meg of ROM. 256 colors available on-screen. Single SID sound with the 3 voices and "volume" mixed externally. The solder pads are there on the board; in other words, enterprising hackers can solder on a serial port in order to connect a Commodore-compatible drive and can attach a PC keyboard."
